Again, as the Collander in Trail, we have been coming here, The Dragonfly Cafe, for 10 years, every August while we are here for the Annual Memorial Soccer Camp in Salmo, in the Kootenays, British Columbia (Canada).
This has become our place to connect, since the home we live in does not have wifi, and it’s not just for the kids…. it’s for me too! We have ordered smoothies, and gelato, and cakes and squares, lattes, and quesadillas. It is an amazing place to eat and relax. Over the years, I can now point out the locals, which is a cool, comfortable feeling somehow for me. The girls serving have come and gone, of course, but when we are there, I usually tell them, that we’ll be back tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, for that week. They get to know us, and suddenly we are regulars.
During this trip, I usually ordered the strawberry and banana smoothie, and once, a latte with almond milk. Unfortunately, they do not have much in the way of vegan treats!! Of course, there are many other things to eat ….. soups, sandwiches, “salads”, (I should have tried their salads, but never did somehow!), etc., etc….and they’re open till 7 p.m….. 7 days a week.
They have a bit of air conditioning, because sometimes it gets to be quite warm in Salmo, 30-35 C! but somehow it does not reach all corners of the restaurant, and there are only 2 areas where we can sit and plug in, which is along the bar, which can get quite warm with the sun shining through the window.
The Dragonfly does lie right along the main drag, so it is not hard to miss if you are passing through! A great stop either way, vegan or not!
